I am going to retire my ancient Passport USB 2.0 drives that I travel with for either large capacity Flash Drives or External SSD drives.  I am thinking 2 512 GB units but might  go 1TB is I found the right deal.  Looking for any suggestions on what to look for and good/bad experiences w products

Thanks
Rocky

If you go the SSD route, you have the option of going a dedicated unit (like a Samsung T1 or T3) or getting a regular 2.5" SSD and putting it into a portable case. Might come down to price. I'd personally get 2 drives, for 2 copies of whatever you have.

I recommend SanDisk X400 1TB 2.5" SSD plus a slim USB3 enclosure from amazon ($25). It costs less than $300 and I get ~480MB/sec transfer rate on my MBA.

Thanks--the drives arrived yesterday and the enclosures will allegedly arrive today
