My thoughts are simple - it's the monitor I use :D. I don't see why your calibration tools wouldn't work.

My answer is the same as E.J.'s. (Just longer, as usual. :) ) I kept waiting for my NEC LCD2690W to die so I could upgrade it, but the thing stubbornly refused to kick the bucket. So I recently broke down and ordered a pair of PA302W's at long last, and have reassigned my 2690 to be a traveling display for printing workshops and the like. My first PA302W has been installed for a few weeks, it's a very welcomed enhancement to my workflow, a brilliant display.

The large format print shop where I now work is running the older model LCD3090W and PA301W displays; they too stubbornly refuse to die. The 3090 has almost 14000 hours on it, though I must say it's starting to lose some of its luminance uniformity from side-to-side, so we'll probably upgrade it soon to a PA302W.

The PA302W is better than both older 30" models, thanks primarily to the LED backlight -- less energy, runs cooler, stabilizes quicker after power up, slightly crisper anti-glare screen to my eye, should last much longer. The only better monitor in the NEC lineup is the 4K 32" model, but oh the price on that one. And 4K still has some software support challenges.

As long as your i1 colorimeter hasn't aged badly, it should work fine with the same SpectraView II software on the new PA302W. (Just upgrade SV II to the latest version to support the new monitor.)
