Can I install Adobe Camera Raw 8.3 on my XP system with CS5 running?
Or should I install my CS6 and then install Adobe Camera Raw 8.3. I'm running onlt 3GB of memory?

Thanks in advance
Larry

Note 5 on this page would indicate that you can do that:

My Dell System with XP and 3G of memory cannot open https://helpx.adobe.com/camera-raw/kb/c ... tions.html. I clicked it this morning and left it for over 8 hours and it still was not open. I tryed downloading adobe Raw 8.3 but I could only find a adobe NG 8.3 and I do not know what that is. Untill I get my big computer some time this week I hope, I am stuck with this. I keep this unit because it runs my Coolscan 5000, photomatix and my Epson Perfection V700 scanner. Rather than hunting some other software to run the scanners it is easyer to let them run as is.

Thanks EJ
Larry

Thank you for the info EJ, I have installed the raw 8.3 into the Adobe/adobephotoshopCS5/plugins. I Extracted the zip file, Restarted the computer.
When I open photoshop I get this dialog box "Unable to use the camera Raw plugin, It Is not compatible with this version of photoshop.
Should I uninstall photoshop CS5 and install photoshop CS6?

Cheers

You might try VueScan for your scanners. As far as I know, Photomatix will still work on newer computers. But Lightroom's HDR function puts the previous HDR programs to shame so I haven't kept up with them. Don't know if it is just for LR CC though.

If you are using a camera that came out after the release of 8.3, there will be no thumbnails and you won't be able to RAW convert those files. In tat case you would need the DNG converter, convert all the files to DNG and then use ACR.
You can see if your camera is supported on this link.  Just go to your cameras and as long as the minimum version is 8.2 or less it will work.  If the number is greater than 8.3 it will not.
