Here's one I haven't seen or read about - my D800 was set to save only RAW files. I took a couple hundred frames, and in the middle of the files on the CF card was a single JPG file and no RAW file for that particular image. It was an image for that particular shoot; it appeared that the camera setting was changed to save JPG instead of RAW for a single image, then reverted back to saving RAW again. I of course I did not do that. Any ideas what may have caused this?

Did you perhaps test out the camera's internal HDR feature for one shot?

Nope, I never displayed a menu while shooting.

Wow, that is strange. How about taking a picture with a phone in the middle of the shoot and importing that into the same folder. I've done that before.

Strange indeed. Perhaps just an errant electron misbehaving deep in a chip somewhere, and hopefully it won't make a habit of it.
