I would like to add a wide angle lens for use with my Sony a7R. The 24-70 is my widest lens and I find that I am missing my 17-40. I do have a Metabones adapter ,so i am open to adding a Canon lens, if necessary.

There is the Sony 16/35 f4 and the Samyang (?) 14 2.8 to name a couple. I shoot the 14 on my A mount and my copy is pretty good.

I have been happy with my Canon 16-35 and the Metabones IV adapter. You may want to try before you buy--I have rented stuff from lensrental.com before buying...

The Sony Zeiss 16-35 f/4 is a very good lens!  I think it's pointless, if you are going to buy a lens anyway, to get something that requires an adapter when an excellent native mount lens is available.

I have been shocked at how well things have gone with the Metabones IV--but I do agree with EJ that the Sony Zeiss makes more sense..
