Hot pixel -What should I do?

Hi all!

I just got myself a new 5DII a couple days ago.
I just realized it has an hot pixel in top right corner. Is this normal/acceptable? Is there an easy way to map it out?
Image
The hot pixel is visible against dark backgrounds not only at high, but also at ISO 100.

Thanks in advance

alex.

Canon has in the past always built in a hot pixel remedy:

With a fresh battery, put the body cap on the camera, put the camera in manual sensor cleaning mode, leave it in that mode for 60 seconds, shut off the camera.

So what was your outcome Alex?

:D I knew I could find the answer here. Thanks E.J.

I wonder how does the camera know what to do. Does it by default after manual sensor cleaning scan the image for high contrast dots?

Also, is this written somewhere on the manual or is just of those things that smart people know?

This is not a documented feature but it's something Canon has built into their cameras since I think the 10D.

I did not know that and neither did the dealer, thus I got a replacement for my 1st 7D!

That was the first think I thought about, but then I remembered someone discussing this before, and I knew where I would find the answer (here). 8)

I guess now I will have to live with one pixel less, but in 21 000 000 that's not a big deal.

Now why the heck would Canon not want this to be common knowledge? Do they just not want to bring up stuck pixels and have someone ask why they exist in the first place?

I doubt that it's anything sinister. I think engineering just built that function in and didn't tell the manual writers and marketing.

Maybe, lots of money for quick, simple, easy repairs, from many unknowing consumers ???

And haven't told them since the 10D? I tend to think there's some reason that they don't want people to know about this "officially". I also don't think it's anything sinister (like trying to force people to send it in for repair) - I'm just curious.
