Hey Paul,

I could see the possibility of a Texas/Louisiana chapter, but including all of these states seems to be a stretch.

East to west across Texas alone is almost 900 miles. El Paso to New Orleans is probably closer to 1100 miles....

Maybe Florida, Alabama, and Mississippi could be one and TX/LA could be another...

Just some late night thoughts...

Cheers,

Mark in Austin

You're right. But need we be constrained by state boundaries?

I was thinking more along the lines of people who live near the gulf, or at least within driving distance. Maybe East Texas, South LA/MS/AL, and the Florida Panhandle/West Florida.

Well, when talking about "boundries" you are talking about driving distance, I presume??

Unless someone is NOT talking about states lile Florida, Texas, or California, driving distances are simply too much to ever see any substantial gatherings, imho..:(

Seriously, it can be a 14 hour drive on IH-10 (or longer if you hit rush hour traffic in San Antonio or Houston) before you ever even leave Texas...of course, that is for people who live in the extreme west or east of the state.

For example, it would be a minimum 9-11 hour drive for me to go from Austin to New Orleans...that might discourage many people from Texas going to Louisiana, or vise versa....

A chapter for Louisiana, Miss., and western Florida might be better...of course, since Florida already has their own, I would me most curious to see if people who live in Pensicola would feel about driving to Miami....

Just some thoughts on a restful Sunday afternoon!!

Cheers,

Mark in Austin

I would be interested in a Gulf Coast chapter. Thanks for starting the thread, Paul.

I'm surprised to see a response to it over two years later!

I'd like to see LA/MS grouped together because we are not represented
