Congratulations! This is the Image of the Week selection for the Wildlife Gallery, week ending 14th December, 2012!This was taken two years ago in the Serengeti very early morning. Hand held (i had no tripod). When I took the photo I didnt even know the elephants were there. I am trying out Topaz denoise and it definitely seems better than neat image. Lots of noise in this one. The lights are from a toyota land cruiser coming in to pick us up for the day.

Interesting. The slash of light is very powerful Rob and for me kicks arse. Yet the whole scene taken in it's entirety is so serene. I like the image --it's unique. I'm thinking what if the elephants were more directly portrayed in this one. Like you said you didn't even know they were there till after you looked at the shot. Regardless--this shot is so unique that one just has to love it.

Very different, I like it!
ISO 12,000..............wow! I can see why it was noisy.

Very dramatic image Rob -- it seems to me to need just a smidge of CCW rotation.

Ha, the lights perfectly spotlight the ele's and the tree trunks, couldn't be better placed. Neat shot!

The noise programs are getting better all the time and help to save shots that would not make it out of the trash bin. A strong picture Rob.

Very dramatic. I like it a lot. The diagonal of light hitting the elephants makes a lovely scenic into a very unique and powerful portrait of animals in their environment.
