Congratulations! This is the Image of the Week selection for the Birds Gallery, week ending 26th October, 2012!Hi Folks
The weather has been pretty dreary in the UK of late, I went out to try and get some foggy tree Landscapes with my telephoto lenses.....but had a chance encounter with a wild Short Eared Owl instead, it was a very brief meeting, but I really liked the mood, dead tree perch, wet spiders webs and the wider view (which makes a nice change from my usual "crop like crazy" approach :)) , the colours are very muted and cold....but it was taken in foggy conditions, so these represent the scene realistically.
Thanks for looking, cheers

Stunning image Steve!! The foreground limbs work incredibly well in this composition and the spider webs make this even better. Wow!

Lovely and unique looking image. Really like both the composition and mood created with the fog. The cobwebs add something too as it "ties" the subject to the great looking perch.

Love this Steve--no nits! I like how the massive sprawling tree makes the owl look so "alone" and cast out if you will. A great image that evokes some nice emotion.
