Congratulations! This is the Image of the Week selection for the Flora and Macro Gallery, week ending 2nd September, 2011!One of the most tolerant species of dragons that I have come across. The ruby meadhowhawk will allow you to approach and get very close even when they are active and perching on a plant. This image obviously is from a nice dewy morning before she could fly.

Olympus E-620 camera
Sigma 150mm/F2.8 lens
shot at iso 400, F8, 1/16" on tripod

Love the dew look, Jerry. Would have shot this at a higher DOF so his front arms are sharp
Enjoy viewing

Pretty dew details and soft light, nice background. Not just tolerant of approach - red Sympetrum species land on me pretty frequently, esp. at the end of the season.

Very nice Jerry...still haven't found one with dew...maybe I'm just not getting up early enough.
Cheers from the Canadian west coast,

Tough one to shoot because of the color. Great to get him with the dewdrops. Well done!

Thanks all for the comments - Jim, I would have preferred F11, but the slight wind made it a challenge as it was. I got one crisp shot at F8, and nothing close at F11. ISO 800 doesn't work well enough on the 4/3rd sensor to really make that a good choice. So ISO 400 and the best DOF was F8 for this shot. Thanks for the suggestion.
