I don't know if this is happening elsewhere, but it is sad to see it here

I'm thinking it's probably related to those wildfires. The smoke is all the way to Ontario, Canada so it must be devastating to high flyers.

I'm seeing lots of dead birds on my morning bike rides here too and often not species that are found here so it's clearly migratory birds.

We have been following this - original thought was that it is fires but now since birds are dying lots further away from fires it is suspected this was due to a plunge of cold air that forced birds to migrate early without proper fat stores and when they came down they were to weak to feed or drink and/or food and water was just not available due to drought - It really is only impacting migrants and thousands of birds have been collected for study which hopefully will answer questions
One thing that backs latest suggestion - is researchers collecting birds have noted birds looked in super bad condition little muscle or fat
Since tons of migrants really depend on insects it pushes that we need to eliminate exotic plants and quit using pesticides before we destroy bottom of food chain - exotic plants do not support insects for those not in the know
