Fires and agricultural clearing of forest areas are destroying an amazing area for wildlife:

Bolsinaro is pro burning the entire Amazon and Pantanal. He has stated this and is a total climate denier and does not believe that this will ahve an effect on the planet despite the fact that this is the largest oxygen producing region on Earth.

This movie about the Giant Armadillo shows a lot about the Pantanal and covers some of the problems there:

This article has some facts and figures on what has happened under Bolsinaro:

https://news.yahoo.com/environmental-gr ... 01713.html

Since January, 12% (9000 square miles) of the Pantanal has burned. During his first year in office, deforestation increased 85.3%!!!! Pretty sad.

Yup, exactly what I was referring to and he was actively encouraging people to burn the Amazon and then use it for agriculture.

This is disgusting. I understand the need to feed the people and have an economy. However, this has to be accomplished with consideration for the long term consequences of actions. I believe as human beings we must have a DNA flaw that makes us, as a race, so aggressive and self centered that we are willing to sacrifice everything for short term gain. On my first trip to Africa We saw a zebra walking very close to a lioness. I asked why the zebra felt it was OK to do this and the lioness didn't pounce. The guide answered "The Lioness isn't hungry". We need to take lessons from the lions.
Remember, a little mild insanity keeps us healthy

And another thing that this does is eliminate native plants and brings in more non-native species of plants and thus reduces native insects which is basically bottom of food chain so not only do the native plants, animals and birds lose habitat - the food chain also gets broken because insects population gets hammered
