I just came across this app for capturing lightning on an iPhone or iPad:

Sounds good according to most reviews. There is a lite version for free, but it only captures low mp images. Not like a DSLR or MIL, but it’s probably fun to try. There are others for Android, as well.

Cool, now how about a cable that attaches to a real camera triggering it - basically using your phone as a lightning trigger rather than having to carry around yet another flaky contraption...
