When I used to teach workshops, I had a handout of 42 or so “Points to Remember”. The very first one was “Know your camera, its’ features and capabilities”. This article tells you a lot of reasons for its’ importance and the reason I made it my first point. Even on these forums, I see basic questions that can be answered by reading the camera manual(albeit 300 or more pages sometimes). At my age, it gets hard to remember all the settings, so it pays to review the manual occasionally.
