Hello and happy new year.

I need to spend a couple of days in the Miami area, mid-January. Staying near the airport. Photography isn't the focus of the trip, but I'll have some time (morning/afternoon). Can anyone suggest spots for bird photography (any kind) within about an hour's drive?

Thank you,
Armand

Here's some quick information

https://www.sun-sentinel.com/features/f ... story.html

Also if you want to drive some you could reach Shark Valley (to the west) or the Royal Palm Ahinga Trail (to the south)  in Everglades NPS. Best early in the a.m.

Also check out the website for the Florida birding trail.

Happy New Year to you also.

Richard.

Anhinga trail is all but dead, further down Flamingo a little better.

The only “good” right now would be Wakodahatchee Wetlands in Delray Beach. Turnpike exit 81. Nesting Great Blues and many Storks moving in. From the airport about an hour drive. btw, parking is a problem and need to be there when they open at six thirty or just after

In theory there is no difference between theory and practice. In practice there is.
