Often we are so engrossed in what we are photographing that we forget what is around us.  I know people who have had tripods stolen while in the field because they were paying so much attention to a photography subject and didn't notice someone walking off with it.  It can happen to anyone.  We have gotten a number of windstorms over the last several years including a tornado which felled and uprooted a number of trees.  When I set myself down on a fallen log in the woods, I always look up and make sure there are no loose tree limbs or branches kind of caught up in a tree directly above me.  Unfortunately for this lady photographer the price she paid for concentrating on her photography was with her life.

Photographer's death was no accident

That situation is hardly the fault of her concentrating on her photography, it was murder.
