Can’t afford to go to Africa to photograph a wild Serval? Come to New Mexico for a prime opportunity!

American Serval

We also have populations of Oryx, Barbary Sheep, Persian Ibex, and, possibly, Siberian Ibex.

It really is a shame that New Mexico allows these invasive species for the hunting crowds.  Barbary sheep can cause havoc with our Big horns by spreading disease.  As a side note, a truck over turned and a bunch of B. sheep escaped in Bend Oregon.  I walked out to my open garage and was surprised to find a ram in my garage, hunkering down in the corner.  I closed the door and fish & wildlife came and got him.

We have way too many Bighorns and the Barbary Sheep don't seem to have any effect on them. Domestic sheep are more of a problem. G&F is always trading or transplanting Bighorns. That is not to say that exotics are benign in any way.
