It is with very heavy heart that I report the passing of Jeff Tanner.  Jeff Tanner was one of our very best landscape photographers.  He resided in Idaho near the Washington border and met me when I went to the Palouse a couple of years ago.  We had a very heavy conversation about his terminal diagnosis of brain cancer several years before but was very happy to report that, against all odds, he was in remission but also resigned to the fact that it would eventually spell his end.  I hadn't heard from Jeff in a few months so today I checked up on him and am sorry to report that he passed away of cancer in January.  He was just 46 years old.  You can see his stunning photography in his posts to NSN here:

His obituary can be read here:

So sad. He was an excellent photographer, and far too young.

That is so sad.  He was a very talented photographer, so genuine in all my dealings with him, and so humble about the wonderful images he produced.  He found great comfort in being out enjoying the beauty and peace he found in nature, and this empathy was evident in his photos.    He will be greatly missed, and my heart goes out to his wife, Cheryl and the rest of his family.

Carol.

Sad news....
I did not know Jeff, but I did enjoy his wonderful landscape photography posted here over the years.
He will be missed.
My condolences to his family and all those who knew him.

Very talented – loved his work, and will always remember "Mountain Dreams."
