We are starting to see a rating system for the amount of weather sealing appear in some new camera announcements that have the letters IP followed by a number.  the IP stands for Ingress Protection and then the first number is for the amount of dust protection and the second is for the amount of liquid protection.  Higher numbers are better.

As an example an IP55 rating would man that the camera is largely sealed from dust and sealed to a point where what little dust can get in can not impact operation of the camera.  It also means that it can withstand water jets from a nozzle in every direction.
