Wow! the results shown in the article are super. Wonder how long it will take for this to begin to show up in the lenses we use?

At least a decade or more.  There are major lens innovations that have been around for a decade or more in research labs that have not found their way into commercial products including technology that could build a 600mm f/2.8 that weighs just a couple of pounds and is only a few inches long.  Almost always there is some other optical issue or cost issue that precludes these technologies from making it into our lenses.  We can however hope... :)
