It is amazing the way that technology is moving so fast in tiny(relative to full-sized cameras) smartphones and so slowly in dslr’s or mirrorless cameras. Check out the changes and info on this flagship model, especially in the gray box:

It also uses a nano sd card which is 45 percent smaller than a micro sd card.

Jeez, is that a phone or supercomputer? I think it's going to set a higher bar for other phones.
Have Fun,

Why? Because of a simple reason; they sell way more smart phones then the do cameras these days - economy of scale.

An interesting article was sent to me by a fellow NSN’er(thanks Richard) this morning. It was coincidentally published also on Tuesday by Thom on nearly the same subject. It is much more in-depth than my simple question.

That is an absolutely fantastic article and 100% on the point, thank you Joe for sharing it. I've been visiting Japan for two decades and while I would not go into the details of what I think, the fact that the "Camera ecosystem" is broken is plainly obvious. BTW, I love Thom's writing and his sites since I can intimately relate to some of his experiences.
