A friend and I will be visiting Arlington from the UK next week and have a free day this Sunday. Can anyone recommend any places to go for bird photography? We would rather get some good photos of common US birds rather than 'record shots' of rarities.
Thanks in advance

John

Nine people participated in this morning?s walk at Long Branch Nature Center in Arlington.  The walk was sponsored by the Northern Virginia Bird Club.  The forecasted rain and wind held off, and the group observed 33 species, unfortunately none of the spring migrants were around.

John,
I'm sure you will find plenty of good spots from this URL (http://audubonva.org/birding-hotspots/). I'd recommend Huntley Meadows.

Huntley Meadows in Alexandria is always a good spot. Dyke Marsh which is on the George Washington Parkway just south of the beltway is another good spot.
