I'm going to be spending a week or more on the Florida Gulf Coast (Hernando Beach).  It's been years since I've done any bird photography in Florida.  I'd like to make a few day trips but don't know which of the old places are still productive--Venice Rookery, Sanibel, Fort Desoto etc.   Any recent observations or guidance will be much appreciated.
I'll be working on landscapes as well but I have a bunch of new gear I'd like to try out on those nice slow-flying birds.

I to will be visiting the area during March/ April, so will be very interested to hear current thoughts and suggestions.

Pat and David,  When I was there last February, the two most productive spots were Bunche Beach and Fort DeSoto.  Ding Darling didn't have too much to offer.  Venice Rookery has the usual close but cluttered rookery possibilities.  Harns Marsh offered some species that aren't found on the beaches.

Thanks Bill. I'm not familiar with either Bunche Beach or Harns Marsh. It's always nice to hear of new (to me) places.

Thanks Bill. I’m afraid that I’m not familiar with Harns marsh either. Any heads up as to where it is please. Did you go anywhere near the celery fields?
