It was a single engine turboprop Cessna 208B Grand Caravan as reported carrying 12 passengers plus two pilots. The operator is Nature's Air. I hope it was not a group organized by an NSN member.

All aboard were killed.

Very sad. We do not have any workshops over the holidays and don't do any flying trips in CR.

It's horrible news for us here as nationals and visitors were involved. Nature Air is a very reputable company, and it appears that a strong wind gust was a factor. Costa Rica's microclimates, while a boon for biodiversity, make for challenging and rapidly varying weather conditions.

Thankfully NSN has no involvement (Greg Downing and I do our annual trip later this month which is all land-based as EJ mentions). That said, from the news I've read it seems like some really nice people perished, both tourists and a cousin of our previous president (he was the pilot).

Best regards,
Greg
