If anyone is going to be in Albuquerque in the next few months, there is a National Geographic traveling exhibit on the Birds of Paradise that runs through August 16. I think they are probably my favorite creature in the whole world.

Go to the San Diego Zoo if you want to see most of the Birds of Paradise in person...one caveat though, when not displaying, they are rather drab birds.

Thanks, Mike! I didn't know they had them there.

If you have a chance to hear Tim Laman speak about his Birds of Paradise project or anything else GO! I've heard Tim speak three times and he is schedule to be the guest speaker at the Nuttall Ornithological Club meeting at Harvard in October. Always a GREAT presentation with wonderful visuals and a really nice guy.
