Thanks for bringing the woodpecker set-up back, Darren! Last winter some friends and I photographed education birds at a facility and I had a heck of a time trying to use a Bogen super clamp and magic arm to hold one of the larger perches we had taken with us! And, thank-you, Allan! I have ordered your book.

I'm usually disappointed in ebooks--they are generally over-priced with much less information than your typical hard copy book. BUT, I am really looking forward to Alan's ebook. He is generally so thorough and detailed in the info that he provides in this forum, that I just know the book will be worth every penny!!

Thanks to everyone who contributed to this thread. We tried our first set up today but there weren't any birds around. We are going to try closer to some feeders tomorrow. Maybe its not the best time of year to set something in the woods

Here's a setup perch I really like. How's this for a unique looking perch? The person who set it up is quite artistic to begin with and it shows in this setup perch. Looks great and creative.

It looks attractive to me. The landing log appears to have been oriented away from the camera to mask the prey that I suspect has been planted on it.
