Some time ago there was a discussion on here about Australian raptors picking up burning sticks to start fires in different locations to flush out food, insects and small mammals.

There is a wonderful new series on Australia that features footage of the raptor picking up a smoldering stick and starting fires with it. For any one interested this is episode two of 8. It is a very visual series with excellent photography.

Two US scientists came over to Australia to study the raptors starting fires. The birds have a long history in conjunction with the Aboriginal population over thousands of years where the raptors have been woven into the dreamtime stories.
