Dear All,
I am sorry I could not find the proper place to post this question here at NSN and hope it is ok to post it here.

I will be visiting Florida from 18th till 22nd Dec and want to do Roseate Spoonbill Photography. Any suggestion on the best spot ? How about J Ding Darling at Sanibel Island these days?

Thanking you.

Not sure about the best spot. But, I have seen and photographed them at Merritt Island NWR, and Ding Darling NWR. They probably congregate near shallow water areas like wetlands, which both NWR's cited are just that! Good luck.....

I've seen them most often at Merritt Island. The last several years there have been some hanging around the Viera Wetlands area as well. Usually in the Click Ponds.

I have had good sightings at Wakodahatchee Wetlands and Green Cay Wetlands. Both have boardwalks, are in Palm Beach County and are good for photography.

I would also suggest you check eBird to get current sightings

Ding Darling has been very disappointing for a while. If I was in the area, I would give it a go, but I wouldn't make a trip just to find Spoonbills. I also vote for Merritt Island NWR and Viera. They are close enough together you could do both in one day. I was at Merritt Island at Thanksgiving and there were a lot of spoonbills around.
