NatureScapes Workshop - Banff and Jasper National Parks
Banff and Jasper National Parks

Nestled in the heart of the majestic Canadian Rockies, Banff and Jasper National Parks are a dream destination for photographers looking to photograph rugged landscapes and iconic northern wildlife. The trip will start in Banff with visits to classic locations such as Lake Louise, Vermilion Lake, Peyto Lake, and more. There we'll have ample time to experience and capture some of North America's most beautiful and iconic wilderness landscapes before heading up to Jasper to focus on wildlife. In Jasper, we'll have opportunities to witness the world's largest bighorn sheep rams and see the elk and moose rut in full swing where spectacular mountain backdrops provide the perfect setting for incredible photographs and an unforgettable experience.

Itinerary:

Day 1, October 19:

Participants should plan to arrive in Banff at the host hotel by 7:00 PM for an evening slideshow presentation.

Overnight at Delta Banff Royal Canadian Lodge

Day 2–4, October 20–22:

Photograph landscapes in some of North America's most beautiful and iconic areas. We will also photograph wildlife when we run across great opportunities for it but the bulk of the wildlife shooting will occur during the second half of our trip. We will visit great locations like Herbert Lake, Peyto Lake, Lake Louise, Vermilion Lakes, Johnston Canyon and much, much more. The daily schedule will be determined based on weather and local conditions at the time of the workshop.

Day 5, October 23:

Today will begin with a sunrise shoot in Banff. After we'll check out of our hotel and head towards Jasper National Park where will take advantage of any opportunities to photograph the world famous Icefields Parkway along the way.

Overnight at Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge

Day 6–8, October 24–26:

There are many great mountain landscapes in Jasper including Medicine Lake, Maligne Lake, Pyramid Lake and Peak, Patricia Lake, and the Athabasca River. These will provide great landscape shots and a fantastic alpine backdrop to some of the best wildlife shooting in North America. Elk, Big-horn Sheep and Moose will be primary targets. The daily schedule will be determined based on weather and local conditions at the time of the workshop.

E.J. Peiker

E.J. was born in 1960 in Augsburg, Germany and moved to Ohio in 1969. E.J. attended Purdue University and earned a Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering. He then completed graduate studies in Microelectronics and Semiconductor Physics and worked for the Intel Corporation for 27 years. E.J. has two sons, Nicholas and Gregory, and has lived in Chandler, Arizona since 1994.
