Testimonials
I recently made a "sizeable" purchase with NatureScapes and I couldn't be happier with the services provided! I was shopping for a new Gitzo tripod, Wimberley head and several related accessories. One of the things that immediately caught my attention was that NatureScapes offered discount "bundle" pricing on the tripod+leg covers and the Wimberley head+cover that none of the other "big name (internet) stores" offered. NatureScapes also sells a custom-designed Gitzo “safety plate” which adds increased strength to the tripod head for supporting heavy lenses. The safety plate was “free” with the purchase of the tripod, so that was another benefit for me. NatureScapes provided lightning-quick responses to multiple email questions (both before, and after my purchase), and the owner of the company spoke to me, at length, on the telephone. Processing and delivery of the order was quick, convenient, and painless (I used PayPal) – with free shipping, no less! As a first-time customer, I am glad to say that it was an absolutely flawless transaction, and I wouldn't hesitate to do business with NatureScapes again.

I appreciate the added benefit of the buySafe Guarantee. Confident in the knowledge that I will suffer no loss in whatever case. This is especially comforting since I purchased a Gura Gear Kiboko Backpack the King of all backpacks. But I do thank you providing this protection to me at no additional expense. NatureScapes is the only online store I shop with that does offer this welcome guarantee. A very satisfied customer!

Wimberley's P-5 Universal Camera Body Plate has a thin layer of dense, textured rubber on its top surface which grips the bottom of your camera, yet maintains the same solid feel that you get with a metal-to-camera connection. Beneath the rubber, the top surface of the plate has a wide, shallow cut-out running across the middle of the plate. This cut-out ensures that the frictional force is concentrated on the outer portions of the plate providing the maximum mechanical advantage to resist twisting. The result is a plate that is very solidly attached to your camera body, and will not twist.

As a universal plate there is no need to buy a new plate when you buy a new camera. It can be used on your camera with or without the vertical grip attached. The P-5 works with camera bodies, point-and-shoot cameras, medium format cameras, and even collared lenses. It also features the same unique dual safety stops found on Wimberley lens plates.

Includes a 5 year warranty.

Please see the Specifications tab below for additional information and training videos.

Due to the manufacturer's policy, Wimberley brand products are not eligible for promotional discounts or coupon codes.

P-5 FEATURES:

Universal Design

  • Fits virtually any SLR, as well as many point-and-shoot cameras
  • No need to buy a new plate each time you upgrade your gear.
  • Easily move from camera to camera or share plates between multiple cameras.

Rock-Solid Connection - Wimberley specifically designed the P-5 to provide a solid, twist-free connection to your camera body.

  • How It Works The P-5 features a thin layer of dense, textured rubber on its top surface. This coating grips the bottom of your camera, but is so dense and thin that it maintains the solid feel of a metal-to-camera connection. Beneath the rubber, the top surface of the plate is machined to ensure that the frictional force is concentrated on the outer portions of the plate. This provides the maximum mechanical advantage to resist twisting.

Lightweight
- 1.4oz (40.8g)

  • A hollowed-out underside and lack of flanges or extensions on top minimizes bulk and weight.

Dual Safety Stops

Ergonomics

  • The P-5's thin profile and generously rounded corners make it easy on the hands; it blends beautifully with the contours of your camera.

Threaded Hole for Non-quick-release Applications

  • For further versatility, the P-5 offers a third hole that is threaded and can be used to attach your camera to a ¼” stud on a tripod head platform without the need for a quick-release clamp.

This is my favorite QR plate. What makes this so nice is the generic fit. I got mine when I purchased my second DSLR and I have been able to use it on all four models I have gotten since. Other QR plates are camera specific, so they tend to depreciate in value along with the model they are designed for and when upgrading camera bodies, you have to buy a new QR plate as well.

In the three or four years I have owned and used this, I only had it loosen up when I manually tightened the screw on the bottom. I've never had a problem with it when using the hex key to attach it.

I've also used this as a back up QR plate attachment for my lenses. It works very well, although I don't recommend using it on lens feet that have the hollow cut out in the center, as it gives the textured surface less to grip to. But, as a backup, this QR plate works well.
