This duckling was one of an original brood of 10 at Viera Wetlands in mid-August. Other than the Durante-like bill, the duckling gives little hint of the vari-colored beauty of the adult ducks. Nevertheless it has a beauty of its own.
NOTE: On Sept. 8, 2005, I received word that all remaining ducklings including this one had been taken by crested caracaras (Mexican eagles).
