Congratulations! This is the Image of the Week selection for the Birds Gallery, week ending 22nd April, 2011!Just a fun image from today. Shot just off of the grapevine, I-5, in California,
near Pyramid Lake.

Nikon D2x, 500mm F4 lens, Car as a blind and arm as a bean bag.
F8 @ 1/350 at ISO 200.

I wouldn't have guessed that area would be productive for birds, will have to check it out some time! This really says "spring" with all the little flowers. Perfect focus on the head.

Beautiful environmental picture. I love the colors and the contrasting black head adds a pop to the picture.I would move the bird a bit to the right to make him slightly less centered but this is a very minor nit. A lovely shot!
