Just got back after spending four days in a magical place called Kingfisher Park. This birdwatchers lodge is located in the rainforest of Julatten Queensland.
Owned by Lindsay and Keith Fisher who are dedicated birdwatchers and photographers. Really lovely people who went out of their way to assist me in getting these photos and made my stay so wonderful.
Anyone who visits the area and wants to photograph this beautiful kingfisher and many other rainforest birds - please check out their website.

Beautiful bird, I love all of the colors. Lovely shot with a great background and details. The prey adds a lot.

I suppose you could ask for a nicer perch here, but everything else about his image more than makes up for that. Just love this Ofer. Great bird, great BG, great pose and the dinner tops it all off. What is that creature it is eating? If this bird is feeding in this same area regularly, I would go and setup a nice cool perch there.

Thanks for your comments guys!
Tim, this is a centipede. Its a venomous creature with a nasty bit.
As to the perch. This was taken in a four days trip to the tropical rainforest - it is not a backyard shot.
I wanted to disturb the birds as little as possible as this was taken near their nest when they are busy feeding the youngs. The perch is a typical rainforest vine.

A great looking bird, and with prey too! And thanks for the tip on the place to stay!

... just a bit too much flash for my tastes though ...
Cheers, Con Foley

Thanks for your constructive comment Con! Please let me know where you can see too much flash so I can fix it.
Cheers!
