Thanks Matthew... has been about 3 years since I last had a go at these with a D70s...... is a lot harder than I remembered, but I shall persevere. D70 was able to flash at 500/sec & even went as high as f50 when it was in the mood.
Unfortunately my opportunities to photograph them will be limited as they will start to hibernate very very soon along with most other bugs.
All the best, Guy

Very good, incredible picture.
Would you be willing to share the technique and set up that you used for this shot.

Hi all ..... once again, thank you for your comments.
Hi butterflies5.... about 4 years ago I wrote a little piece in Naturescapes about how to get these images, but alas I can't find it now.
Am pleased that you seem impressed with the image...... so without taking all the fun of problem solving and achieving away from you if you do want to try to emulate or better the image... perhaps this will whet your appetite and point you in the right direction. You need...

Camera & flash details as above, although a couple more slave flash units would definitely be of benefit.
A rectangular tupperware box with a lens sized hole cut in one end (don't discard the lid)
An overripe banana.
A comfortable chair & plenty of coffee (the full trial & and a lot of error process took me about 100 hours 4 years ago.... however, with the above guidelines, should reduce the learning curve to a couple of hours before you are getting a hit rate of about 20% in-focus shots)

Thank you all once again. Best wishes & happy hunting, Guy

Discontinued my previous domain... so thought I should at least show it on flickr for those that might be interested.
Will have another go at doing these chaps when the season is right.
