Shenandoah Springtime Forest

Postby Kari Post on Sun Apr 20, 2008 10:29 pm

Congratulations! This is the Landscapes Forum image of the week for the week ending 04/25/2008.

Image

The trees in the lower elevations of Shenandoah National Park have started to bloom, so I captured this scene including Virginia's beautiful Eastern Redbuds. I hope you like it!

Lovely colors, I like the composition with the three redbuds. I think you could reduce the exposure and increase contrast a little to make the colors pop even more.

Very nice panoramic. Does the printed version show the redbud color with more pop than the web omptimized version? I find this frequently happens to me......

Very nice Kari. I really like how you positioned yourself to almost equally distribute the redbuds in distinct sections. Way to make a nice scene out of the chaos of the forest.

Very nice colors and comp. Would ad some black to give it a little bit more 'kick' in the trees. But maybe its my screen.

Wonderful scene. I can only image the rich details in the original version. Great spring documentation!

Kari, I really like this a lot. I understand some of the comments re: contrast, but don't mind it at all as presented. One thing I know is that these bigger pano's, when compressed down for web posting, suffer more than most images. I think seeing a nice big print of this would deliver a much different and improved impression than what we see here in the forum. :) I really like the interleaving of trunks & foliage, of green leaves and redbuds. A bit of softness in detail & tone is appropriate. It's like a picture window out onto a wonderful scene, and I can imagine the other senses coming into play as well. You've made a well composed image of an appealing view. Nicely done...

We just arrived in Winchester, VA for the summer and just love the Redbuds! You have captured it beautifully with the soft greens and the pinks!
