NATURESCAPES.NET IMAGE OF THE YEAR AWARDS
NatureScapes.Net provides image critique galleries for nature photographers to post their photos for critique. These galleries are Birds, Wildlife, Landscapes, Flora and Macro, Elements of Humankind, and Digital Creations. Each week the moderators and staff of NatureScapes.Net pick one especially outstanding image from each image critique gallery to represent that gallery's Image of the Week. At year's end, one image is selected from these photos to be the gallery's Image of the Year.

HOW ARE IMAGES SELECTED?
The basic components of the judging process include technicals,
composition, artistry, subject behavior or action, processing, and visual
impact. An image not earning Image of the Week doesn't mean it is lacking
any of these, please keep in mind that ultimately it is a subjective process.

OF THE YEAR PRIZES!
At year's end, one Image of the Week photo is selected from each
gallery to be the gallery's Image of the Year. Image of the Year award
winners are given a shopping spree at the NatureScapes.Net
online store, with many nature photography products to choose from!
The total amount of the store credit is contingent upon sponsorship; it is Image of the Year sponsors who make the prizes possible - please be sure to support our sponsors! For 2007, NatureScapes.Net and our sponsors provided each winner with a $500 credit at our online store, an Annual Membership and a NatureScapes.Net cap. Honerable Mentions received $100 credit at our online store, an Annual Membership and a NatureScapes.Net cap. The total prize value for 2007 exceeds $5,000.00!

OF THE WEEK AND YEAR GUIDELINES
Each week the moderators and staff of NatureScapes.Net pick one
especially outstanding image from each image critique gallery to represent
that gallery's Image of the Week. Images posted outside the NatureScapes.Net
guidelines may
be deemed ineligible. Images posted "for discussion purposes only"
are not eligible for selection.
Weekly selection image posts are moved to the Images of the Week forum. Images of the Year are displayed in a special presentation with all winning photos. Upon a review of a year's winning images, some photos may no longer appear in the threads; because the full-sized image cannot be evaluated, it may become ineligible for year-end selection.
Please note that photographers need not be paying members at NatureScapes.Net to win.
