Île de la Cité by Magic Hour Travelscapes

Île de la Cité is one of two natural islands in the Seine river within the city of Paris. It is the centre of the capital of France and the location where the medieval city was refounded - the cradle of Parisian civilization if you like. I wanted to capture something of this historical heart of Paris in a refreshing way. The overcast conditions and timeless looking surroundings lent themselves to a monochrome look. I settled on a composition that seemed to emphasize the ordered geometry that one often finds in this great city, placing the iconic Notre-Dame cathedral at the focal point of the image.

About the Photographer
“I strive to capture light that transforms land, sea and the legacy of man into a scene that stirs the senses and emotions.”

Kah Kit Yoong is a Melbourne-based travel photographer and writer. The life he had mapped out as a doctor was changed forever when he took his first snap with an SLR camera in 2005. He then developed his skills while wandering the cobblestone streets of historic Italian towns and exploring the wild mountainous island state of Tasmania. His inspiration is to preserve forever those special moments he has borne witness to - where light and circumstance come together in a remarkable way. Kah Kit's work has been featured in many international publications such as National Geographic and Popular Photography. For more information visit www.magichourtravelscapes.com
