This image with the town of San Gimignano in Tuscany was captured at sunset with the last rays of sunlight warmly illuminating the foreground and the towers in the distance. A graduated neutral density filter was used to balance the exposure for sky and ground. The single RAW exposure was double processed and blended together. Canon 5D, 24-105mm 4L IS at 24mm, ISO 50, f22, 0.5 seconds, Gitzo tripod, Cokin neutral density grad filter.

About the Photographer

I am a Melbourne-based travel and landscape photographer/writer who took my first snap with an SLR camera in 2005. I then honed my skills wandering the cobblestone streets of Italian towns and tramping the wild island state of Tasmania.
