"Hanoix Lighthouse"

Hanoix Lighthouse is one of the prominent features of the Channel Islands, situated on Guernsey’s west coast. After arriving too late for classic sunset, I was determined to capture this wonderful setting with the lighthouse working. Trying to position myself in the most effective place was very testing, slippery rocks and the swift rising tide made it incredibly difficult to get a complimentary composition. Using my rusty 5D, a 24-105 and a cable release, I was only able to get good exposures in bulb mode, experimenting with shutter speeds between one and two minutes. If I had arrived earlier I would have probably packed up sooner. It stands as another reminder that a ‘never say die’ attitude can bring the best out in photography.
