NATURESCAPES.NET IMAGE UPLOAD SERVICE

The NatureScapes.Net image upload service is a benefit of paid membership. It allows NatureScapes.Net members to place their images on the site server for posting on the forums. If you are not a member please see our membership page for more details.

UPLOAD SERVICE GUIDELINES
Please do not upload images to the site server for any other reasons than for display on the NatureScapes.Net forums. No "hotlinking" of images hosted at NatureScapes.Net on other sites is allowed. If providing a link on another site, please provide the link to the entire thread containing the image, not just the JPEG.

To utilize the upload service, your paid membership must be active, then the upload can be performed directly from the "New Topic" screen in the image critique forums. Per the posting guidelines, images should not exceed 200 kilobytes nor should they exceed 750 pixels on the longest side. Panoramic images may be up to 850 pixels on the longest side, 450 pixels on the shorter side. Member images are removed from the NatureScapes.Net server periodically.

Only one image post per every twenty-four hours is allowed in each critique gallery except for the Birds Gallery which is every forty-eight hours. Please keep image posts in Photography Topics and Digital Topics discussion forums to a minimum and for illustrative purposes only, not for critique. Image posts are allowed in the Nature Photography Goods Classifieds when they are of the equipment being sold (not a likeness or similar product). Image posts are encouraged in the Regional Chapters forums and may be the same images as have been posted elsewhere on NatureScapes.Net, but should be from the chapter territory. IMAGE UPLOAD INSTRUCTIONS
To utilize the upload service, please follow these steps:

  1. Go to the appropriate forum where you wish to post your image and select "New Topic".
  2. You can fill in the "Subject" and "Message body" fields at any time. Paid members will see an additional field, "Upload". Click on the "Browse..." button to select the image you wish to post.
  3. Position your cursor in the "Message body" where you wish the image to appear and select "Upload file".
  4. The screen pauses momentarily, then refreshes with the URL of your hosted image sandwitched between image tags, [img] and [/img]. Depending upon use of the upload service, server speeds, and connection speeds, the upload process may take anywhere from seconds to roughly a minute. It is imperative that you not edit the tags or the URL for your image to display properly, although you may edit the text outside of the image tags.
  5. Select "Preview" to view a draft of your post, and your image, with text, should appear.
  6. Make any additional modifications, then select "Submit" to post to the forums.


The "Post a new topic" screen. Paid members should see the highlighed "Upload" field. If you are a paid member and do not see this field, please contact us and be sure to note your forum "user name".
