I have an older 32GB SD card that won't format in my new Nikon1 V1 BUT it will format in my D800. Each time I try to format in the Nikon 1 V1, I get an error message stating that the card is damaged. What is interesting is that I can format in the D800 put the card in the Nikon 1 V1 and it works fine.

I did some reading on the net and tried formatting the card via my Mac. Still getting the error message.

Lots of folks say not to mix SD cards between cameras - is this the issue?

Should I just toss the card or is there a way to determine for sure that the card is faulty?

Thanks.

Bill

No that's not the issue. Likely there is a problem with the SD card that would reveal itself if you tried to fill it with pictures even on the D800. I've had what you are experiencing happen before. I certainly would not trust the card. Depending on the brand, it might be under warranty in which case I would just get it replaced.

Thanks E.J. - Hammer to the little bugger, then recycle. :-)
