Congratulations! This is the Image of the Week selection for the Landscapes Gallery, week ending 6th July, 2012!

Hi all,

Apologies for the quite week from me, we've been playing host to a client for a one to one for the last 11 days and have had a busy time. The monsoon is in full swing and the peaks being illusive, but we managed to grab a promising break and make the two-day trip up to the Tibetan border via Zhongdian.

Miraculously we scored a stunning high latitude sunset over the huge peaks and then did some night photography until the moon set about 02:30.

This shot was part of a series of 7 minute stacks taken from our hotel window :-) (I love relaxed shooting!)

I was thinking black and white from the start of the shoot and have processed it for impact and mystery.

Stunning image! I really like the choice of B&W for the processing, I would agree with you that it really helps with the overall impact of the scene. The clouds covering the lower altitudes really help with the sense of mystery.

Absolutely fascinating! The crevices at the mountain face appeared to be tree silhouettes added from another exposure, but closer inspection reveals such is not the case. This is a powerful image.

Love it!
The long exp has given movement to the clouds and along with the dappled light provides real interest.
Add to the that, the star trails....it appears to be an invasion from another world.

A very striking image that is hard to imagine in color after seeing it in B&W. Great shot and forethought!

Gorgeous image in B/W Alister -- love the end result (it's hard to believe this image was shot in comfort!)

Stunning shot. The repeated triangles make for a strong composition.
