A few raindrops from an overnight sprinkle on a lupine in the garden. Hope this qualifies for the motif - although there's several dark areas and the bright center, I think green when I see this image. D300S, 105Micro @F11 with 38mm tube, 1/60, ISO200, natural light, tripod. Some cropping on right and bottom.
An excellent shot for the motif – and I think you have made great use of light and form here to craft an interesting image. Its nice the way the background OOF areas softly mirror the subject curves, while the foreground lupine is making a nice architectural feature.
This is the kind of shot that makes me realize that I just don't have the artistic eye that so many of you do. I was a music major, and realized that I was just a technician; I hope to be inspired enough, and learn enough (can you learn aesthetics? I couldn't learn musical improv,) from you guys, and shots like this, that will take me to the next level; from technician to artist. In other words, I like this!
Thanks to all for your comments - please know they are appreciated!
Craig: we share a common background. I, too, started as a music major and after coming to the realization (and acceptance) that I simply wasn't a good enough musician was able to make a shift to IT related work. Just like you I could not learn music improvisation. As to your question about learning aesthetics, I don't really know, but I've certainly learned much from following the forums, analyzing the photos, and reading the comments.
