Juanli and I are spending more and more time getting out into the wilds of SW China, and Yunnan/Sichuan are proving to be ripe areas for extensive exploration. This little valley is on the border with Tibet at around 4000m. In spring the hillsides are resplendent with Rhododendron forests, and in fall with golden colors.

What isn't shown in this image is the majestic Mt Baima that rises to nearly 6000m above this valley. Apologies for the small size, but had to reduce it to avoid excessive compression.

I have posted a larger version on my G+ wall - https://plus.google.com/u/0/117538315488626912884/posts

This is another image with a really lovely color palette...there's just so much here to look at. The processing you chose gives the image an interesting feel as well. I like it...

Thanks John... The big thing I always experience at altitude is the way the extreme cobalt blue skies interact with stuff on the ground. The stones in the valley are mid tone and pick up a lot of the reflected light from the sky.

The CPL exaggerates that also.

Ta for the feedback though, I may have to make an adjustment to this to tone it down...

Pretty scene, but I really like the foreground colors.

Alister it rocks! I just can't go that high with my lousy lungs; the air is too thin. What are the capture specs?

Yip, not a place for dodgy lungs...

I have added the specs above the image... Cheers,

My first thought was I need to recalibrate, but reading the comments, maybe it is the odd reflective color at the elevation.
Love the little jewel of the stream running through the scene.

Quite the view in this one Alister, I really like the stream flowing through the centre, it does a nice job breaking up the image. The subtle colors throughout the trees are really nice. The large version on your Google + definitely does this better justice.
