As I was heading back to the car, I saw a small vole scurrying on top of the snow. It was at lesat 5* C and the snow was a bit soft. Laying flat on the snow....it gave way a bit....I pointed my 400 5.6L lens in the direction of the vole. To my surprise it started scampering towards me. I had to get up or it likely would have just run up my face
 Often it was inside the lenses MFD so i had to keep getting up and then back up. The ideal lens would have been a 70-200 2.8L + 1.4x. I would have gotten some great photos had that been the case. Not so with the 400 5.6L. The vole seldom if ever stayed still.  |
