Anybody have one or two? I find them a good way to keep focus on what I want to accomplish for the year.

Mine are:

1. My songbird catalog could charitably described as lacking, but better described as nearly nonexistent, so I plan to put a lot of focus in the Spring & Summer on building my catalog.

2. Small alpine mammals were something I planned to focus on last year, but the huge snowfalls in the Northern Rockies made me miss the height of the summer bloom at the higher elevations around here. So, I'm repeating it as a resolution for 2012.

Mine is to work with other focal lengths than 400 to 600mm. 90% of my shots the past year have been with long telephotos, so this year I will work more on enviromental shots.

Mine is to get out more. For some reason I am worried about spending money for gas, but will eagerly shell out big money to fly to places to photograph birds. Makes no sense to me.

I want to slow down and do more quality rather than quantity. I find myself trying to get as much as I can into the time I have but I usually don't slow down and try to do quality images. What goes along with this is I want to also shoot the common subjects in my yard. Stellar's Jays, Dark Eyed Juncos, Chickadees, House Finches, and Nuthatches. I find I overlook these species and don't do quality images on them because I take advantage of them as they are common.

These are some awesome resolutions guys!

Mine are to:
1) Get my bird and landscape photographs up on my website. I haven't been able to put the time in to get those galleries up just yet.
2) To start my "official" photography business, complete with Tax ID # and everything. I've never made enough money to have to go the formal route yet, but I think its time.
3) To get my dream of running environmental photography programs for young adults off the ground. My master's project for my MS degree will focus on this.

I think that's enough for now, although I have plenty more photo related goals I'm hoping to tackle as well!

My photographic goals for 2012 are:

1. To get out and shoot more!
2. To experiment with some alternative processes/etc - such as cyanotypes and maybe even did my Holga out.
3. To go out with the goal of shooting specific projects instead of whatever strikes my fancy at the time.

I recently did a blog post about this! I also listed several marketing goals that I won't bore you with here. It's always nice at start of the year to take stock of where you are and where you want to go.

I have two goals that relate to my Whitetail Deer photography. "Resolutions", if you will. They are:

1) To capture images that show a buck and doe in the same frame, with the buck chasing the doe, both at a full, all-out run. At least one of them must be large in the frame. This can only be done during the "chase" phase of the rut in November. It's been a specific goal for two years now, and so far I've struck out each year. Guess I've gotta be persistent!

2) To capture images of a buck shedding his velvet. I want the antlers all bloody and the velvet hanging off in big gobs. Better yet if the images actually show the buck rubbing the velvet off on brush or tree limbs; or if multitudes of insects are swarming around the fresh blood. Images illustrating that it is the absolute peak of the shedding process. This is another goal I have had for some time; I don't want to get to the end of 2012 without accomplishing this one.

I have a few, most of which are boring and have more to do with running my business and less with the fun side of photography. However, one of my major resolutions is to explore the backcountry around Moab a whole lot more than I have in the past. I've lived here almost 6 years and I've photographed every icon dozens of times. So, in 2012, I'll spend most of my time hiking, four-wheeling and canyoneering in the deserts (and mountains!) around Moab in areas that most photographers have never seen. Keep your eyes on my website for new images of gorgeous locations that aren't anywhere near an icon. :-)
