Thanks - will do. About half the price of the one above but still pretty pricey at about half what I paid for the printer. I think I will see how the printer works with the stock driver and for the few times I need bigger than 37" I'll outsource.

My HP 13x19 just cloaked too.. Not sure what to do. One advantage to working for them is cheap ink but we don't make a small pigment printer anymore

Qimage always has my vote.

Photoshop, yes, but not Lightroom. The Lightroom license is multi-platform, so you can install it on two different computers regardless of operating system.

So what is your impression about the printer so far?

I have not tried to actually print 37" long print myself but have produced PDFs with Aperture with Aperture managing profile. If you have the patience, it might be worth a try.

late to the party, but I also just ordered a 3880, and am wondering specifically about printing on roll paper. Those of you who have made your own roll hangers, would you mind offering any insight, or possibly even an image or two. I'm pretty handy, and am planning on figuring it out, and building one, but any beta is always appreciated.

i surely miss the 30 day trial from ddisoftware before. it allows me to experiment on Qimage, too bad i was not able to utilise it well. all i did was to l get]odd sized borderless working but if only i have reead all and'learn by example' through it,life could have been so much easier now.

For printing past the 37.6 in limit of the Epson 3880 try PrintFab. Successful results described here: http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/post/50293122.

On that same site search the posts discussing the several reliable 3 rd party refillable cart & ink vendors used by the community.
I use QImage for my final printing step, cut sheets from rolls--paper and canvas AND am experimenting with Jon Cone's family of specialized inks. My present/previous supplier, Ross Hardie of Inkjetcarts kept my 3880 and myself quite satisfied with 2 years of excellent Color and B&W prints. My ABW B&W prints were/are awesome to me and club competitions. My ink refill costs are 1/7 of Epson's--it behooves me why ink (dye and pigment) in a cart should cost more than human blood!

I do agree that professionals printing and selling their own prints or professional printers printing solely for other artists the use of 3rd party ink is a moot point. For a moderate size print, 17x25 or such the $$ savings may be $3-5 and is a legit business expense but the potential risk of embarrassment is a lose-lose situation. The customer breathes brand names, does he/she know that Jon Cone or Bob Nash were among the several original innovators of inkjet printing? Or are even familiar of Paul Roark's efforts and advances in fine art Carbon inks?

However, for the many non-pros, hobbyists or serious amateurs and their families the cost difference is not negligible (especially in this economy). Imagine being faced with the choice of filling up your car or replacing a 3880 or 2 2880 carts! Same $$, different impact.
