Shot at some distance from the cliffs above the Piedras Blancas beach north of San Simeon, Ca. The seals were boring compared to the birds. Watching the sandpipers race in and out with the waves, escorted by the curlews, was interesting. Birds are amazing.

Nikon D3s, 500mm f4 lens, ISO 400, f8 at 1/750, Bogen Tripod. Raw converted in ACR.

Very nice image, I like how they are all headed in the same direction and the contrast between the two species.

Well seen and well taken. Many interesting things to look at, and compositionally, everything "feels" right here.

Beautiful composition ,with the contrasting colours of the Curlews following the monochromatic coloured sandpipers , surf and sand.

Just love this image Brent. It seems to go beyond bird photography and have a artistic painting like effect. Love the comp with the surf rolling in. I am not positive, but those sure look like Whimbrel's to me? The "sandpipers" are actually Sanderlings :)
