Dates: April 21 - 26, 2013 (7 days) Tour leaders: Marsel van Oosten and Daniëlla Sibbing Fee: 995 EURO from Kayseri, Turkey Group size: min. 8, max. 12 participants
Cappadocia is a region of exceptional natural wonders and a unique historical and cultural heritage. The spectacular volcanic landscape is entirely sculpted by millions of years of erosion. Wind and rain have created a bizarre field of hundreds of conical formations. Many of these pillars, known as fairy chimneys, contain labyrinths and caves where Christians once hid to avoid persecution. We will explore and photograph the lunar landscape, strange rock formations and rock hewn churches in the many valleys. We will stay in a small hotel right in the heart of a historic village. One of the highlights is an optional balloon ride, shooting the surreal landscape from above!
All accommodation is in a small family-run hotel. This trip is suitable for photographers of all experience levels. There will be daily briefings, one-on-one in the field instructions, raw processing tips, and image reviews in the evenings. You'll return with spectacular images.
Spouses and non-photographing travel companions will also enjoy this amazing trip!
This tour is already filling up very quickly, so if you're interested in joining us, don't hesitate and make your reservation now!
Because we do things differently. We don't use some tour operator that organizes everything for us, because tour operators are not photographers. Sure, we want to see the highlights of Cappadocia, but that's easy. It's the hidden gems, the undiscovered parts far away from the tourists that we're most interested in. That's why we never offer a tour to a location that we haven't thoroughly explored ourselves first. On this landscape workshop we will take you to spots that are truly spectacular and are not in the guidebooks. We will be shooting there with no other people than our group. Try that on other Cappadocia tours.
That's it? No, we are very proud to have a return customer rate of over 75% - people that have travelled with us, often travel with us again, and again. Surely that must mean something.
Our trips attract photographers from all over the world. The language we speak on all tours is English. If you can't speak English, we can also speak Spanish, French, German and Dutch.
I am a professional nature photographer from The Netherlands. My images are most known for my use of composition, lighting, color and perspective. In my work I try to simplify, to get rid of the extraneous: Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication.
In addition to winning the title Nature Photographer of the Year in the prestigious International Photography Awards (IPA), my awards include 3 First Prizes in previous editions of the IPA, First Prize in the European Wildlife Photographer of the Year, First Prize in Natures Best International Photography Awards, Second Prize in the Travel Photographer of the Year competition, and Third Prize in the BBC/Veolia Wildlife Photographer of the Year. My photographs are featured in galleries and museums, and are used in advertising, design, and I am a regular contributor for National Geographic magazine.
Together with my wife Daniëlla I run Squiver, a company that organizes specialized nature photography tours and workshops for photographers of all experience levels to spectacular destinations all over the planet.
