What is the millimeter of the GoPro lenses; i.e. I know they are ultrawide lenses…but how wide?

Maybe I should ask what the FOV is.

I am looking at the Silver 3 at this time.

Thanks ahead.

I have 2 GoPro cams and a couple of third-party knock-off type cams (I use these for other purposes). The widest angle is about 170* in Ultra Wide mode. Available in some recording settings

They used to state the FOV on the older models. Scroll down.

Some technical discussions.

The FOV I keep hearing about for the widest field of view is 170*

Use as a dash cam.
The new GoPro Hero ($129) is a great dash cam. Its only negative to me is that it does not over-write itself meaning you have to format the card (takes about 20 to 30 seconds) every 4 to 5 hours of recording due to the 32GB limit in card size. You pay less so they had to hamper it a bit or many would choose it over the more expensive GoPros :-) Some do not like the sealed battery but it's worked fine for me so far. I use the widest angle which will cover the whole windshield and more to the sides (this is when the GoPro is installed right up near the top of the windshield but angled slightly back on the mounting bracket). The video quality is excellent even at night. It's a clean contrasty look. If you want more detail, then the GoPro 3 Black+ (which I also have or the newer 4 models) is the one to go for (the look may be more washed out at night and not as crisp but you get more detail).

Looks like that bottom link will tell me what I need to know: ultra wide, medium and narrow.(W, M, N)

But still, one more thing...I need to know what the bolded numbers in the left column mean?: 4X3, 17X, 16X.??

Thanks for the help OntPhoto

Robert :)
